Eskimo Roll

Whether upside down in a roiling river rapid or capsized on the open sea, the Eskimo roll is without a doubt the fastest means of self-rescue. Through years of experience as an instructor, Hawk has learned the tried and true methods of teaching virtually anyone to Eskimo roll in a matter of hours. This class takes place in the ideal conditions of a heated pool or warm summer river using the versatile river kayak. In addition to using standard teaching methods, Hawk uses video as a teaching tool to assist students to identify subtle flaws and rapidly improve technique. This class is 2-3 hours long depending upon progression, and students will receive a DVD depicting the instructor completing successful rolls as well as the student’s attempts for comparison and further training assistance. Developing a ‘bombproof’ roll is essential for advanced kayaking in conditions in which self-rescues or assisted rescues may be dangerous or impossible. This course is recommended for advanced courses in the sea kayaking series.

Price: $75 per individual for private lessons.
